  150. General Installation Notes:

  152. 1.  The operating system must be installed prior to the
  153.     installation of the driver.

  155. 2.  This installation procedure is specific only to the 
  156.     version of driver and installation file included in this
  157.     release.
  158. 3.  This procedure assumes that all of the software
  159.     associated with this release is located in the same
  160.     directory.

  164. MANUAL "HAVE-DISK" INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  167. To install from a Web download, you will download either a ZIP file or an EXE file from the Web.
  168.  
  169. a. If it is an EXE file, double-click the file you downloaded and specify a 
  170.    location into which the  driver files will be extracted. Click "Unzip" and          
  171.    the files will extract. Click "OK" on the next window, then click "Close". 
  172.  
  173. b. If it is a ZIP file, you must unzip it using a utility such as WinZip* or   
  174.    PKZip*.

  180. 1.  Right click on "My Computer" icon and then click on "properties".

  290. 5. When the 'Setup COMPLETE' message appears click 'Finish' to restart your computer.

  296. * 4.  VERIFYING INSTALLATION OF THE SOFTWARE
  297. ************************************************************
  298. 1.  Double Click on the "My Computer" icon, then double click on the
  299.     "Control Panel" icon, and then double click on the "System"
  300.     icon.

  302. 2.  Click on "Hardware" Tab and select "device manager". Click on the
  303.     "Display Adapters" icon. The Intel Graphics Driver
  304.     should be listed.  If not, the driver is not installed
  305.     correctly. To check the version of the driver, refer to
  306.     the section below.
  307.

  309. * 5.  IDENTIFYING THE SOFTWARE VERSION NUMBER
  310. ************************************************************

  312. 1.  Double Click on the "My Computer" icon, then double click on the
  313.     "Control Panel" icon, and then double click on the "Display"
  314.     icon.

  316. 2.  Select the "Settings" tab and then click on the
  317.     "Advanced" button.
  318.  
  319. 3.  Select the "Intel(R) Extreme Graphics" tab. The
  320.     graphics driver version should be listed on this screen.

  323. * 6.  UNINSTALLING THE SOFTWARE
  324. ************************************************************
  325.  
  326. NOTE: This procedure assumes the above installation process
  327. was successful. This uninstallation procedure is specific
  328. only to the version of the driver and installation files
  329. included in this package.
  330.  
  331. 1.  Click on the "My Computer" icon, then click on the
  332.     "Control Panel" icon, and then click on the "Add/Remove
  333.     Programs" icon.
  334.  
  335. 2.  Select Intel(R) Extreme Graphics Driver Software
  336.  
  337. 3.  Click the "Remove" button to uninstall the driver. 
  338.

  340. * 7.  INSTALLATION SWITCHES AVAILABLE
  341. ************************************************************
  342.  
  343. The switches in the SETUP.EXE file will have the following
  344. syntax. Switches are not case sensitive and may be
  345. specified in any order (except for the -s switch). Switches
  346. must be separated by spaces.
  347.  
  348. SETUP [-b] [-g{xx[x]}] [ [ -nocuidlg{xxxx},
  349. [-nocuidlg{xxxx}]...] | -nodiag | -basic] [-overwrite]
  350. [-nolic] [-bits x x_pixels x y_pixels x vert_refresh]
  351. [-l{lang_value}] [-s] [-f2<path\logfile>]
  352.  
  353. GFX-INSTALL CUSTOMER SWITCHES
  354.  
  355. -b  Forces a system reboot after the installation completes.
  356. In non-silent mode, the absence of this switch will prompt
  357. the user to reboot. In silent mode, the absence of this
  358. switch forces the Setup.exe to complete without rebooting
  359. (the user must manually reboot to conclude the installation
  360. process).
  361.  
  362. -g{xx[x]}  Forces the configuration of a specific language
  363. version of the driver during the install.  The absence of
  364. this switch will cause the installation to utilize the
  365. language of the OS locale as its default.
  366.  
  367. -nocuidlg{xxxx}     Suppresses the display of a specific CUI
  368. dialog. This switch may be used multiple times to suppress
  369. many dialogs on a single command line invocation.  The
  370. absence of this switch means that CUI dialogs will be
  371. displayed as specified in the INF 
  372.  
  373. -nodiag     Suppresses the display of all CUI dialogs and CUI
  374. tabs on the OS Display Property pages and disables the Intel
  375. Graphics Technology Control Panel Applet. The absence of
  376. this switch means that CUI dialogs will be displayed as
  377. specified in the INF. Note: this switch functionality is
  378. different from the PC4.0 
  379.  
  380. -nodiag switch functionality. The PC4.0 -nodiag switch is
  381. functionally equivalent to the current "-basic" switch
  382. (below).
  383.  
  384. -basic  Suppresses the display of all advanced CUI dialogs.
  385. The absence of this switch means that advanced CUI dialogs
  386. will be displayed as specified in the INF.
  387.  
  388. -overwrite  Installs the graphics driver regardless of the
  389. version of previously installed driver.  In non-silent mode,
  390. the absence of this switch will prompt the user to confirm
  391. overwrite of a newer Intel Graphics driver. In silent mode,
  392. the absence of this switch means that the installation will
  393. abort any attempts to regress the revision of the Intel(R)
  394. Extreme Graphics driver.
  395.  
  396. -nolic    Suppresses the display of the license agreement
  397. screen. In non-silent mode, the absence of this switch will
  398. only prompt the user to view and accept the license
  399. agreement. The functionality of this switch is automatically
  400. included during silent installations.
  401.  
  402. -[bits per pixels] x [x_pixels] x [y_pixels] x [vert_refresh].  
  403. Sets the four default display parameters: bits per pixel, pixels 
  404. per line,pixels per column and vertical refresh rate. 
  405. For example:  If you want 16 bits per pixel, 1024 pixels per line, 
  406. 768 pixels per column and a vertical refresh rate of 75Hz, you would 
  407. input the follow at the command line "-16x1024x768x75".
  408.  
  409.  
  410. INSTALLSHIELD* STANDARD SWITCHES
  411.  
  412. -l{lang_value}  The switch provided by InstallShield*
  413. specifies the language used for the Gfx-Install user
  414. interface. The absence of this switch will cause the
  415. installation to utilize the language of the OS as its
  416. default. Detailed requirements for the Install Dialog
  417. language settings are given in the Install Dialog Language
  418. section.
  419.  
  420. -s  Run in silent mode. The absence of this switch causes
  421. the install to be performed in verbose mode.
  422.  
  423. -f2<path\logfile>  Specifies an alternate location and name
  424. of the log file created by a silent install. By default,
  425. Setup.log log file is created and stored during a silent
  426. install in the same directory as that of Setup.ins.
  427.

  434. (collectively, the ôSoftwareö) until you have carefully read 
  435. the following terms and conditions. By loading or using the 
  436. Software, you agree to the terms of this Agreement. If you do 
  437. not wish to so agree, do not install or use the Software.

  439. Please Also Note:
  440.  a) If you are an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), 
  441.  Independent Hardware Vendor (IHV), or Independent Software Vendor (ISV), 
  442.  this complete LICENSE AGREEMENT applies;
  443.  b) If you are an End-User, then only Exhibit A, the INTEL SOFTWARE LICENSE
  444.  AGREEMENT, applies.

  447. For OEMs, IHVs, and ISVs:
  448.  
  449. LICENSE. This Software is licensed for use only in conjunction 
  450. with Intel component products.  Use of the Software in conjunction 
  451. with non-Intel component products is not licensed hereunder. Subject 
  452. to the terms of this Agreement, Intel grants to You a nonexclusive, 
  453. nontransferable, worldwide, fully paid-up license under IntelÆs copyrights to:
  454.     a) use, modify and copy Software internally for Your own development 
  455.     and maintenance purposes; and
  456.     b) modify, copy and distribute Software, including derivative 
  457.     works of the Software, to Your end-users, but only under a license 
  458.     agreement with terms at least as restrictive as those contained in 
  459.     Intel's Final, Single User License Agreement, attached as Exhibit A; and
  460.     c) modify, copy and distribute the end-user documentation which may 
  461.     accompany the Software, but only in association with the Software.
  462. If You are not the final manufacturer or vendor of a computer system or 
  463. software program incorporating the Software, then You may transfer a copy 
  464. of the Software, including derivative works of the Software (and related 
  465. end-user documentation) to Your recipient for use in accordance with the 
  466. terms of this Agreement, provided such recipient agrees to be fully bound 
  467. by the terms hereof.  You shall not otherwise assign, sublicense, lease, 
  468. or in any other way transfer or disclose Software to any third party. You 
  469. shall not reverse- compile, disassemble or otherwise reverse-engineer the Software.
  470.  
  471. Except as expressly stated in this Agreement, no license or right is granted 
  472. to You directly or by implication, inducement, estoppel or otherwise.     Intel 
  473. shall have the right to inspect or have an independent auditor inspect Your 
  474. relevant records to verify Your compliance with the terms and conditions of 
  475. this Agreement.
  476.  
  477. CONFIDENTIALITY.   If You wish to have a third party consultant or 
  478. subcontractor ("Contractor") perform work on Your behalf which involves
  479.  access to or use of Software, You shall obtain a written confidentiality 
  480. agreement from the Contractor which contains terms and obligations with 
  481. respect to access to or use of Software no less restrictive than those set 
  482. forth in this Agreement and excluding any distribution rights, and use for 
  483. any other purpose.
  484. Otherwise, You shall not disclose the terms or existence of this Agreement 
  485. or use Intel's name in any publications, advertisements, or other announcements 
  486. without Intel's prior written consent.  You do not have any rights to use any 
  487. Intel trademarks or logos.
  488.  
  489. OWNERSHIP OF SOFTWARE AND COPYRIGHTS. Title to all copies of the Software 
  490. remains with Intel or its suppliers. The Software is copyrighted and protected 
  491. by the laws of the United States and other countries, and international treaty 
  492. provisions. You may not remove any copyright notices from the Software. Intel 
  493. may make changes to the Software, or to items referenced therein, at any time 
  494. and without notice, but is not obligated to support or update the Software. 
  495. Except as otherwise expressly provided, Intel grants no express or implied right 
  496. under Intel patents, copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights. 
  497. You may transfer the Software only if the recipient agrees to be fully bound by these 
  498. terms and if you retain no copies of the Software.
  499.  
  500. LIMITED MEDIA WARRANTY.  If the Software has been delivered by Intel on physical media,
  501. Intel warrants the media to be free from material physical defects for a period 
  502. of ninety (90) days after delivery by Intel. If such a defect is found, return 
  503. the media to Intel for replacement or alternate delivery of the Software as 
  504. Intel may select.
  505.  
  506. EXCLUSION OF OTHER WARRANTIES. EXCEPT AS PROVIDED ABOVE, THE SOFTWARE IS 
  507. PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING
  508.  WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, NONINFRINGEMENT, OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.  
  509. Intel does not warrant or assume responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of 
  510. any information, text, graphics, links or other items contained within the Software.
  511.  
  512. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. IN NO EVENT SHALL INTEL OR ITS SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY 
  513. DAMAGES WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, LOST PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION 
  514. OR LOST INFORMATION) ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE, EVEN 
  515. IF INTEL HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. SOME JURISDICTIONS 
  516. PROHIBIT EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR CONSEQUENTIAL 
  517. OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. YOU MAY ALSO HAVE 
  518. OTHER LEGAL RIGHTS THAT VARY FROM JURISDICTION TO JURISDICTION.

  520. TERMINATION OF THIS AGREEMENT. Intel may terminate this Agreement at any time
  521.  if you violate its terms. Upon termination, you will immediately destroy the 
  522. Software or return all copies of the Software to Intel.
  523.  
  524. APPLICABLE LAWS. Claims arising under this Agreement shall be governed by the
  525.  laws of California, excluding its principles of conflict of laws and the United Nations 
  526. Convention on Contracts for the Sale of Goods. You may not export the Software in
  527.  violation of applicable export laws and regulations. Intel is not obligated under 
  528. any other agreements unless they are in writing and signed by an authorized representative
  529.  of Intel.
  530.  
  531. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS. The Software is provided with "RESTRICTED RIGHTS." 
  532. Use, duplication, or disclosure by the Government is subject to restrictions as set
  533.  forth in FAR52.227-14 and DFAR252.227-7013 et seq. or their successors. Use of the Software 
  534. by the Government constitutes acknowledgment of Intel's proprietary rights therein.

  549. LICENSE. You may copy the Software onto a single computer for your personal,

  569. to the Software, or to items referenced therein, at any time without notice, but is

  572. trademarks, or other intellectual property rights. You may transfer the Software

  580. of the Software as Intel may select.

  599. any time if you violate its terms. Upon termination, you will immediately destroy

  602. APPLICABLE LAWS. Claims arising under this Agreement shall be governed by the
  603.  laws of California, excluding its principles of conflict of laws and the 
  604. United Nations Convention on Contracts for the Sale of Goods. You may not
  605.  export the Software in violation of applicable export laws and regulations.
  606.  Intel is not obligated under any other agreements unless they are in writing 
  607. and signed by an authorized representative of Intel.

  609. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS. The Software is provided with "RESTRICTED RIGHTS." 
  610. Use, duplication, or disclosure by the Government is subject to restrictions as 
  611. set forth in FAR52.227-14 and DFAR252.227-7013 et seq. or their successors. Use 
  612. of the Software by the Government constitutes acknowledgment of Intel's
